Frequently asked questions

Why is my web browser blocking my digital download, It says the file is dangerous?

Unfortunately lots of people are having this problem recently, for many it is due to a recent update issue with the Chrome browser becoming too over-protective.
I replicated the problem myself in Chrome, and for me there was a 'show all' button to the right of the download banner at the bottom of the screen, click that and it'll show all recent downloads, look for the most recent, and select the option to download/keep anyway.  You should then be able to download the file. You can then use your virus scanning software to double check the files before opening if you’re in any doubt. You can alternatively go to your browser settings, privacy/security, and click on standard protection, to lower/disable your security level.

If you’re not using Chrome and this is happening, please search for help on downloading files in other browsers and enter your own browser name. If you’re still struggling then please get in touch using our contact form.

How do I get a sewing pattern? - Once you check out you will receive an e-mail. Check the e-mail address associated with your PayPal account, or your spam/junk folder if you don’t see it.

Follow the link in the e-mail to download the pattern zip file/s. Once un-zipped this will reveal both A4 and US Letter sized PDF’s. I would recommend doing this on a laptop/desktop computer rather than on your phone, as many people don’t know how to print, open or transfer files from their mobile. Open your PDF and print it out! Have fun sewing!

Can I buy your dolls/clothes/patterns?

Yes, anything currently available to buy will be listed here on my website, or over on my Patreon page. This includes Custom Dolls when available. If you want to commission a custom doll, I recommend joining my Patreon.

How do you customise dolls/What tools do you use?

I try to show and name all my materials in my customising videos, try watching again if you think you've missed it ;)  I will list and link all that I can here:

Base Blythe Dolls - My genuine Blythe dolls come from these shops:

Junie Moon -Good Smile - C.C.Toys - DollMart

DBS and Look-alike dolls, and separate doll parts, come from these shops:

Blythe Homes - The Show

Preparation - wet/dry sandpaper, various grits, 600, 800 and upwards - Widely available in hardware shops, I like this sponge-backed type:

3M Sandpaper

Carving - An Electric Rotary tool (The one I use in my earliest videos is not produced any more.)

Dremel  (Most popular brand, but many alternatives available)

Rotary tool bits

Hand Carving tools

Sealant/Varnish - Use before, between, and after your colour layers.  I prefer a Matte/Flat finish personally.  The most commonly used sealant in the doll hobby is Mr.Super Clear in a spray can. I used to use a liquid version that I dilute (quite heavily) with Mr.Color Thinner, for use in the airbrush.

Mr. Super Clear Flat - Spray can

Mr. Color UV Cut Super Clear Flat - Liquid

Mr. Color Thinner - To mix with the liquid

Airbrushing Spray Booth

Cordless Airbrush (USB Charging)

Airbrush with Compressor  (This is similar to my husband’s airbrush)

Blushing/Colouring - I use Pan Pastel, and also a portrait set of Windsor & Newton soft pastels. I also use watercolour pencils for fine detail, and sometimes Acrylic or Gouache paint too.

Pan Pastel portrait set

Soft Pastel set

Watercolour Pencils, Derwent Intense

Sewing/Trimmings - I thrift some of my fabrics, and usually look out for small scale patterns, and lightweight cotton/natural fibre fabrics. This way I’m not worrying about melting my fabric when it’s ironed! Here are some of the things I regularly use:

Doll/Baby VELCRO

Metal 5mm Snaps  & Clear 7mm Snaps

Doll Scale Buckles

Coloured 6mm Buttons & Metal 5mm Buttons & Teeny Weeny Buttons

And for those without an Over-Locker - I love this type of Overlock foot in my regular machine, to finish fabric edges.

Shoemaking Supplies - The leather I use is recycled from sofa sample books, you can also recycle thrifted clothes and accessories!

Rotary Tool Burnishing Bits & Rotary Tool Sanding Drums

Lacing/Stitching Prong Hole 3mm Punches

Tokonole Burnishing Cream & Leather Hardner

Leather Skiving/Thinning Tool

Narrow Hole Punching Pliers & Multi Size Leather Hole Punch

1.5/2mm Eyelets and Installation Tool

4mm Rivets & 6mm Rivets with tool
